God Is an Astronaut is an Irish post-rock band from the Glen of the Downs, County Wicklow, formed in 2002. The band was formed in 2002 by twin brothers Niels and Torsten Kinsella, who took the inspiration for its name from a quote in the movie Nightbreed.
They announced details of their 8th album to coincide with the Solar Eclipse across Europe. “Helios | Erebus” is the band’s heaviest release yet, capturing fully the band’s intensity live while retaining the dark ambient passages the band are known for. The album concept is Light vs. Dark and there are many palettes of both to be found on this 8 track album. The album was released on June 21st, 2015 (the longest day of the year) to continue the theme of Light vs. Dark.
This will be the band’s first US tour in 5 years.
