Children’s Beginner Irish Step Dance, Berkeley

In this beginner step class children will spend time strengthening legs, ankles and feet as well as work on increasing flexibility. This is not a class for training competitive step dancers, it is a class for kids to have fun with Irish dance. Focus will be on dancing as a group in a non competitive way. Students will receive positive feedback and be encouraged to dance regardless of their skill level, body time, gender or style. Jasmine Hayes studied step dance at the Trinity Academy of Irish Dance in Milwaukee and Chicago in the 1990’s. After leaving the school she continued to perform in Milwaukee, Seattle, Dallas, New York and Ireland. In addition to modern step Jasmine learned old style steps from James Keane and Sean Nos dance with Brian Cunningham. Over the years she has performed many times at Milwaukee Irish Fest with Trinity as well as in the Gaeltacht tent as both a Sean Nos dancer and step dancer.
