Author Catherine Duggan on Brehon Laws @ UICC
Sunday, February 22nd @ 5:00 pm
Irish Literary and Historic Society presents Catherine Duggan, attorney and historian of Irish law, discussing her book The Lost Laws of Ireland, How the Brehon Laws Shaped Early Irish Society.
Brehon Law was the legal system that governed Irish society for over 1000 years. Since there was no central authority, the Brehon Laws were enforced by the community. They reflect a culture that sought to insure fairness and harmony in a hierarchical warrior society.
Part of the great Irish Literary and Historic Speaker Event Series at the United Irish Cultural Center, that takes place every last Sunday of the month at UICC’s St. Francis Room at 5pm.
