Irish Dance Lessons and Ceili

Come learn and dance such traditional Irish Ceili dances as the Haymaker’s Jig and the Waves of Tory. Fun for the whole family, the teaching will be aimed at the absolute beginner. All dances will be taught and called by Susan Keith: an elementary school teacher by trade, who’s taught Irish Ceili Dance at Lark in the Morning Music Camp. The Ceili will start with a review of the basic steps: 7’s, Ceili swing, etc… from 4:30 – 5:00PM, followed by a Ceili dance with live music by Banish the Dogs from 5:00 – 6:00PM. We’ll be adding some simple Irish circle dances this time for the younger set.
There is no charge for the Ceili, but if you’d like to encourage us to do it again, please put some money in the hat for our caller, and patronize the establishment. The Ceili will be upstairs in the back, where there’s plenty of room for dancing. Afterwards, Banish the Dogs will move downstairs and play music for dinner until 7:30PM. Thanks.
The members of Banish the Dogs have 10 elementary and middle school aged children (and one dog) between them. Their gigs often feature spontaneous dancing by children from the audience. Dogs are banished, and are unsuited for dancing anyways: having two left feet.
