STEPS OF FREEDOM: The Story of Irish Dance film screening

San Francisco Dance Film Festival will be screening the wonderfully entertaining documentary, STEPS OF FREEDOM: THE STORY OF IRISH DANCE on Friday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Brava Theater in San Francisco.  Immediately following the film, the Boyle Irish Dance Academy will perform.

STEPS OF FREEDOM reveals how Irish dance was shaped over centuries through interactions with many cultures as it evolved from a simple folk dance to become a global phenomenon loved by millions around the world.   The documentary features stunning original performances by some of the greatest Irish dance practitioners of the present day and a wealth of archive materials including films, photographs and witness accounts revealing how Irish dance has been practiced through history.
