Irish Genealogy: Names and Place Names & Townlands

Sean Conley is returning to the Irish Center for a presentation relating to Irish surnames, given names and place names as well as a discussion about Irish townlands and how they relate to your genealogy research. He will provide a high level overview of Irish surnames including their origins and locations; and, discuss given names and their association with a particular clan and in other cases their association with various ethnic origins found in Ireland. He will analyze place names and Irish genealogy including a discussion of meanings and translations.
Finally, he will cover topics related to the 60,000 townlands in Ireland and will provide tips on searching for records by casting smaller nets or larger nets over areas to find documents
