Cúlarán formed in 2017 adding to the vibrant Bay Area Irish music scene, with a regular base of The Starry Plough, a Berkeley pub that has been hosting trad session every week for decades. The band, in part, a successor to The Elderberries, features Christopher Dillingham (whistles, concertina), Megan McLaughlin, (guitar), Randall McNeill, (mandolin), Rufus Gondardi, (fiddle, guitar) conjure up jigs, reels, hornpipes, polkas, aires, waltzes, slides, slip jigs, and songs both rowdy and reverent. Catch them this holiday season at both The Starry Plough and the Plough and Stars, San Francisco. For those wondering, Cúlarán is the Irish word for pignut, and Scots Gaelic word for cucumber.
